Game Viewing at Tremisana
Tremisana offers some excellent sightings of animals around its perimeters and all of the Big Five ( Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard) have been seen as well as cheetah and wild dog. The Tremisana Dam attracts an a large number of animals all year round, especially in winter, when this dam is the only permanent water source for a radius of over five km. Elephant, lion and buffalo are seen regularly.
A troop of Vervet Monkeys has made Tremisana their permanent home and their antics amuse and enthrall our guests. At night, the roars of lions and the wails of jackals are often heard and serve as a reminder that we are in wild Africa.
GAME DRIVES
Using open game drive vehicles, the Sunset Drive leaves Tremisana Lodge at 17h00 and returns to the lodge at around 19h00. In mid-summer, we return a little later so as to facilitate spotlit game viewing after dark.
The Sunrise Drive leaves the Game Lodge at 05h30 and incorporates a 1 hour bush walk and returning back to Tremisana at between 07h30 and 08h00.
BUSH WALKS
There is a world of difference between experiencing an African Safari on a vehicle to one on foot. Bush walks enable one to be much closer to the African wildlife. It gives you a appreciate the smaller wonders of nature, walk along the same game paths the animals use and become deeply entrenched in their very space.
