Day One:
We collect our clients from all hotels, guesthouses and private homes in Gauteng as well as from the Johannesburg International Airport.
We travel via the Highveld farmlands to the picturesque Lowveld and onwards to Tremisana Game Lodge in the Balule section of the greater Kruger National Park.
After a short break, during which you may unwind at the bar, enjoy a refreshing dip in our sparkling pool and relax in the beautiful tropical gardens, we board the open Landcruiser for a Sunset Drive.
Your guide will facilitate your first exciting opportunity to experience the varied fauna and flora of Africa. Watch the magnificent African sunset and, after darkness falls, use spotlights to locate nocturnal animals. Dinner in the boma will be a traditional South African meal. Overnight in comfortable, air-conditioned en suite thatch-roofed chalets.
Day Two:
Awaken at sunrise and get ready for an exhilarating day in the African bush. Drive to a remote part of the Balule Plains, where you enjoy a four hour "walk in the wild". Your experienced field guide will lead you at a comfortable pace in search of the Big Five. There is a tremendeous thrill in following Africa’s large animals and approaching close enough to take that memorable photo which will remain with you forever. There is comfort in knowing that your ranger is adequately armed and trained in case of potential danger.
You return to Tremisana Lodge at mid morning for brunch, after which you may enjoy a relaxing swim or rest in your airconditioned chalet, or snooze on a hammock. One can also peruse the library of wildlife books and magazines in the Lapa.
After high tea at 15h30, one sets off on an afternoon game drive. Your ranger will be in constant radio contact with the Warden who will keep us informed of the movements of the animals. Balule Game Reserve offers limited off road driving to get a closer view of the Big Five. Return to Tremisana for dinner at 20h00.
Day Three:
The day starts off by driving to the Orpen Gate of Kruger Park, where one is transferred to a custom-built open-sided Gameviewer.
The open vehicle allows for a excellent wildlife viewing and a chance to appreciate the sounds and smell of the African bush. The absence of windows and your elevated vantage position also allow for excellent photographic opportunities.
Your experienced guide will show you many animals and birds that frequent this wildlife paradise. The Orpen-Satara-Nwanedzi regions have open plains and support large herds of zebra, giraffe and antelope that attract numerous predators. In fact, this zone has the highest concentration of lions in Africa. Regular stops at picnic spots, rest camps and places of interest give guests a chance to stretch the legs.
Day Four:
After breakfast, guests are driven to the Endangered Species Project, where a guided tour allows one to enjoy a close encounter with species such as Cheetah, Wild Dog and Ground Hornbill.
Lunch is held at a traditional cultural village where one can get to experience the ancient tribal ways and customs of the Shangaan people.
After lunch we drive to Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre for orphaned and injured animals and birds. Here guests are introduced to conservation issues and one's knowledge will be greatly improved.
Day Five:
Enjoy an early morning Sunrise Drive on Balule on the open Landcruiser. After a hearty breakfast, there is an opportunity to purchase some memorabilia from the curio shop and take last minute photos of the wonderful lush gardens at Tremisana Lodge.
The road trip back to Gauteng stops en route at the awesome Blyde River Canyon where one can enjoy the awesome views the "Three Rondawels". Guests arrive back at Gauteng in the late afternoon. Airport drop off by arrangement.
